ARTIST STATEMENT

The issue of women and children being trafficked for sexual commerce has haunted me ever since I conducted a magazine interview with a someone from a Houston organization that raises awareness about this issue. I have lost a lot of sleep thinking about what I learned doing research before that interview. Every two minutes, a child is being prepared for sexual exploitation somewhere in the world­­––more than one million a year––and I was shocked to learn that almost one third of these abductions happen in the United States.
